我最近聽到《我要一隻河馬當耶誕禮物 I want a hippopotamus for Christmas》這首歌，我也希望今年的耶誕新年禮物就是一隻河馬。只有河馬才可以！
但主人說，耶誕老公公問我一個問題，要是我答對，耶誕老人才「可能」給我這耶誕禮物。

他的問題是：以下三首現在常聽到的耶誕歌曲，那一首原本是感恩節的歌曲？

在耶誕節前，常聽到《我要一隻河馬當耶誕禮物》，這首在 1953 年發行的老歌，當年由只有 10歲蓋拉•匹薇 Gayla Peevey 所唱，並在同年 12 月登上告示牌 Billboard 排行榜第 24 名。
當時長著一頭捲髮的可愛小女孩，如今已是 79 歲的老奶奶了！
當她在 69 年前唱這首歌時，還住在奧克拉荷馬市。由於該市的動物園沒有河馬，當地報社因此藉著《我要一隻河馬當耶誕禮物》展開募捐，買下一隻重約 320 公斤的小河馬 「馬蒂達 Matilda」，送給她當耶誕禮物，圓滿她的願望。

匹薇老奶奶當時沒將這期待的耶誕禮物，如她歌聲中唱的“養在車庫中”，卻即捐贈給奧克拉荷馬市立動物園。
不久之後她就搬到南加州的聖地牙哥，而長壽的馬蒂達則在動物園中活到近 50 歲！

有些人認為這首洗腦神曲，旋律一聽就中毒，而且歌詞很傻，是騙囡仔的耶誕歌曲。
但至少美國郵政局 USPS 和我都不覺得如此！
2016 年耶誕節前，美國郵政局 USPS 就利用這首歌詞，創作出一則有趣的電視廣告，再配上這首由匹薇老奶奶原唱的歌曲，在廣告中號稱美國郵局比其他業者，運送更多客人網購的耶誕新年禮物，甚至包括河馬！

主人告訴我，這首 1953 年老歌的錄音聲，現在聽起來雖然有點過時、老掉牙的感覺，但這老旋律充滿耶誕新年的喜悅，讓人感受節慶的溫馨。
我除了喜歡這輕快的旋律，感受它無窮的魅力外，也著迷於歌詞中的意境：
“匹薇老奶奶說河馬不會吃掉她，因老師說河馬是吃素的；她不要鱷魚或犀牛當耶誕禮物，她要的就是如勇士般的河馬；她要將河馬養在家中的車庫，給牠清洗，並為牠按摩…”
這樣的歌詞會很傻嗎？它不傻，它還深深的打動我心呢！

我還沒聽完這首歌就「中毒」已深：幻想著在耶誕節早晨打開大門，睜開雙眼，看到一隻河馬站在前門，沉醉在匹薇老奶奶當年的驚喜中！
希望耶誕老公公聽到我的心聲，圓滿我的願望。
我現在可以看到在耶誕節的我，跟主人與河馬到社區散步，和河馬一起在公園小湖玩水，並樂在其中。
